Co prawda znane są wczesne egzemplarze typu X, gdzie w litej głowicy rytowaniem zaznaczono trójpodział nakładki i podstawę głowicy, a także zdobione są one owym charakterystycznym dołkowym ornamentem (m.in. okaz z farmy Skateby w Norwegii, zbiory Muzeum Uniwersyteckiego w Oslo, nr inw. C26494), jednak okazy te prezentują wyraźnie inną formę (zwłaszcza jelca) od naszego zabytku (Peirce 2004, 116-117). Forma oprawy mieczy typu V, m.in. z Vanaja-Katinen w Finlandii, mimo, że dość bliska, nie wydaje się być w pełni analogiczna |
