Art/Literary - Cinema, Film, TV, Drama / Press release for a play | | Polish term or phrase: fabuła staje się pretekstem | A press release about a play. In truth, it's not the phrase I have a problem with, but the phrase within the sentence:
"Dopiero na tej bazie zbudowana zostaje akcja sztuki, gdzie <fabuła staje się pretekstem> do opowiedzenia pewnej historii, takiej, w której XXX does YYY and progresses to ZZZ. "
'. . . where the plot becomes a pretext to tell a particular story...' But the plot IS the story of XXX etc. - not a pretext. Is it tautology. Do I need both 'plot' and story'?
(Or have I quite simply lost the plot completely?!)
