Polish to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Law: Taxation & Customs / Customs and Security
Polish term or phrase:praca analityczna [w zespole wsparcia]
Rendering the text literally - "analitical work" or something along these lines does not seem to reflect the spirit of the original, or do you think it could be translated literally? I am having another mental block about the EN term for this. Any help gratefully received.
This was the first of your questions I looked up, so I suppose I missed "the bigger picture". However, even seeing all the questions now, I still think you were not particularly generous with the context. And believe me, there is no such thing as "no context" - even the colour of the jacket your client was wearing could in some circumstances turn out to be valuable context ;).
I am very glad to hear that I helped, yet at the same time I can't help the feeling of disappointment seeing you close the question without grading.

I jeszcze jedno: fakt, ze ten czlowiek jest "customs officer" wcale nie wyklucza mozliwosci, ze moze byc rownoczesnie "business analyst". Osoby, zatrudnione przez urzad celny to wszyscy bez wyjatku "customs officers" (podobnie jak w banku "bank officer"), ale ta cala grupa wykonuje przerozne czynnosci - npo business analysis. Zauwaz, ze ta osoba pracuje w zespole wsparcia, czyli nie jest celnikiem na frontline, tylko siedzi gdzies aw biurze i analizuje. Business analyst to dosc szerokie pojecie, zreszta przeczytaj w wiki, porownaj z polska definicja, i zobaczysz, ze business analyst to troche szerzej niz nasz rodzimy "analityk biznesowy", ktory kojarzy sie jedynie z IT, wprowadzaniem nowych systemow etc. Business analyst moze po prostu przegladac dane statystyczne (powiedzmy liczyc te walizki) i na tej podstawie udoskonalac prace calego urzedu - to wxale niue musi byc IT.
Wyguglowac mozesz rowniez i zobaczyc setki ogloszen o prace w urzedzie celnym dla "business analysts" wszelkiego rodzaju.
And by the way, who says there is no business analysts employed by the customs?
Moze ta osoba analizowala przebieg operacji urzedu celnego, a moze analizowala walizki, ale tego juz nie wiem, gdyz nie podales kontekstu.
How could I have noticed??? You provided no context so far.
(yes, there is taxation/customs/security category, but that ain't no context, mate, sorry).
I'm afraid there's a slight misunderstanding here. You haven't perhaps noticed that all those words and terms are derived from the job description of a customs officer.
