Jak widać, "passing time" jest dokładnym odpowiednikiem polskiego przemijania (czasu). Transience/y to rzeczownik od przymiotnika "transient" czyli "przejściowy". Oznacza zatem stan przejściowy, który zresztą też jest immanentny kondycji ludzkiej, a zatem bliski znaczeniowo "przemijaniu" jako stan tego procesu.
