Co jakiś czas do nas, do Gnojna, przychodził z Chmielnika Żyd Handel (tak go nazywano). Już z daleka krzyczał: „Smotki, żelaza, stare buty, cholewy, a ja wom wigieł dom”. Pamiętam dobrze te słowa. Ludzie wynosili mu takie różne stare rzeczy, a on w zamian dawał igły, nici, czasem spożywcze rzeczy. - http://www.sztetl.org.pl/m/pl/object/23403/
