Z początku wędrowała myśl, że będziemy 9 batalionem strzelców, potem przyszła wieść, że stajemy się Baonem Br. Nap. Całkowicie zmotoryzowanym nie tak jak baony piechoty przewożone na obcych środkach lokomocji.
Batalion Br. Nap. składał się z dowództwa baonu z plutonem gospodarczym i trzech szwadronów różnorodnych.
