Portuguese to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Accounting
Portuguese term or phrase: baixa
This is in a user's manual for a Brazilian accounting software package. The description given leads me to believe that they're not using "baixar" in the accounting sense of "write off" nor in the computing sense of "download." There's a screenshot for the software screen with two paired buttons, "baixa" and an arrow pointing downward on a diagonal, and "desfaz" with the same arrow pointing upward on a diagonal.

Após a inclusão do lançamento contábil, é necessário efetuar a baixa dos lançamentos contábeis, que consiste em consolidar os saldos contábeis dos lançamentos informados

reconcile

Explanation:
Don't know how to document this exact use, which is similar to "Dar baixa de: abater ou diminuir algo no registro " (Michaelis)

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks, Tobias. I think you're very close, and it may be a good term to use in other context. I came across the same term used much later on in the project (long user manual!) and it leads me to believe that this particular technical writer is using it in the sense that we would use "post".
