Marketing - Advertising / Public Relations / flip-flops
Portuguese term or phrase: soltavam as tiras
Context: rubber flip-flops
"nem soltavam as tiras"
I thought about translating this as "and the straps don't come undone". But I am not sure. Is it the idea that the straps do not come out of the rubber sole? Or just that the straps do not become "looser"? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

agree  Marian Vieyra: Prefer strap. Any reference to a 'thong' in the UK conjures up underwear - fio dental.

the thongs neither flipped nor flopped out

Explanation:
Since it's Saturday night and this is for an ad, it may be best to go light. After all, the recent Havaiana ads have been quite light - and imagine Rodrigo Santoro saying this one (or is it to be Gisele and the competition?).

Warning: To avoid misinterpretation due to possible double entendre, be sure the client knows the term /flip-flops/.
