Certainly for an American audience, "agro food" is the term that's used. People wouldn't even understand "agro-alimentary." It also seems to be preferred in the UK.

"agro food": 455,000 refs
"agro food production": 10,300 refs

vs.

"agro-alimentary production": 92 refs
Most of the references to "agro-alimentary production" appear to be for Italian or French enterprises.
