why, should it be a "for points" question? 06:05 Nov 23, 2009
The professional translators respond to KudoZ queries and receive KudoZ points when their suggested translation is the one that the Asker chooses.
A higher number of Accumulated KudoZ Points makes the Translator's Resume appear more to the beginning
of the list of translators when a client is looking for a translator to do a job in his language pair.
The one with the most KudoZ points will have his Resume appear first in a search for a language pair.
Thus when an asker chooses not to give points for answering a KudoZ question, he is requesting that the Professional Translator take time off from his own jobs to answer the question and then the
Asker is giving nothing in return.
You will notice that many of the "Not for points" questions do not receive many suggestions of translations for the queries asked.
Even though it is never discussed openly - it is considered slightly impolite to mark a KudoZ Query as a "Not for points" question. |
