plano oficial de contas - general

English translation: an interesting question

Portuguese term or phrase: plano oficial de contas - general
Colleagues who translate a lot of 'Relatorios e Contas' will be familiar with the long standard list of headings - taken from the Plano Oficial de Contas - beginning 'Imobilizacoes incorporeas' and ending ' Resultado liquido do exercicio', which seem to be standard for every company.

My question is this: does anyone know if an official translation of these accountancy headings into English has ever been made?

The terms themselves don't cause me many problems, but I often wonder if there isn't an officially approved version.

English translation:an interesting question
Explanation:
See the web ref below, which indicates where to obtain Portuguese-English translation of terms (translation doesn't in fact appear on the page itself).

Look further in google under 'plano oficial contas English', where you may be able to obtain further references.

Finally, I base such translations on a parallel set of accounts for a large Spanish company (one Spanish and the other English); these were translated by a prestigious accountancy company (Price Waterhouse), whom it can be supposed is up-to-date on these matters and applies professional standards.

Hope this info helps.

Heaps of thanks, Ailish. I looked at the site and though, as you say, the relevant pages aren't accessible from there, it might be worth buying the book.
