Quantity related gains Explanation: There might be a better English expresssion to describe "ganhos de escala", but it doesn't occur to me at the moment. However, the concept is as follows: if you buy 10,000 units you'll pay less than if you buy 100. The same applies to production. A prototype will cost you an amount uncomparable to what the same product will cost in mass production. And what you gain is called "ganhos de escala". |

Economies of scale Explanation: Jane is right. This is a standard term in Economics. Even though "ganhos" isn't the same as "economias", the term, as applied here, means the same thing.
