Portuguese to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general) / terminology
Portuguese term or phrase: DIRETORIA-EXECUTIVA
I beieve there are possible different interpretations of this term i.e (USA = Executive Officers) and (UK = Executive Directors). Officers v Directors?
My question is, whilst I am sure there are other alternatives, in respect of American English, can I use the Board of Officers for the above mentioned term and what the alternatives if that term is completyely wrong?

English translation:executive officers (see note)
Explanation:
Most times the word DIRETORIA is used in Portuguese exactly the same way the word OFFICERS is used in English. This is a typical example of adaptation for the translation to sound more natural.
Like A DIRETORIA NÃO DECIDIU AINDA >>> THE OFFICERS HAVEN'T DECIDED IT YET. REUNIÃO COM A DIRETORIA >>> MEETING WITH THE OFFICERS

Notes from wikipedia:
"A board of directors is a body of elected or appointed members who JOINTLY oversee the activities of a company or organization. "
"The highest level EXECUTIVES are usually called "C-level" or part of the "C-suite", referring to the 3-letter initials starting with "C" and ending with "O" (for "Chief __________ Officer"); the traditional offices are Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operations Officer (COO), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Chief administrative officer and Chief risk officer positions are often found in banking, insurance, and other financial services companies"

Explanation:
I am not an expert on American business structure (therefore confidence level 3); however, Wikipedia answers your question as follows (see the full article):

"In the United States, the board of directors (elected by the shareholders) is often equivalent to the supervisory board, while the executive board may often be known as the executive committee (operating committee or executive council), composed of the CEO and their direct reports (other C-level officers, division/subsidiary heads)."

neutral  MARK ROBERTSON: 1) All directors are officers, but not all officers are directors... 2) Directors, whether executive or non-executive, are officers. Officers are those, who hold the offices created by the Articles of Association.

-> Yes dear, I know that. But directors are part of the board (conselho), which is an upper "entity" in the company, whereas officers are the guys who actually run the company (diretores propriamente dito), and participate in its daily routine.
