“Agregado”; “agregados”. Com auxílio do dicionário, e a partir de conceitos
utilizados ainda hoje no Brasil, é possível inferir a idéia ampla de que se tratava de indivíduo que não pertencia pelo sangue à “família” do proprietário de um “domicílio” (“casa”, fazenda, engenho): trata-se, portanto, daquele “ que vive numa família como pessoa da casa”, podendo, por isso, incluir criados e serviçais. Logo, num outro contexto, pode ser o “lavrador pobre estabelecido em terra alheia mediante
certas condições; morador”, ou “aquele que vive em fazenda ou engenho cultivando certa porção de terra que não lhe pertence e prestando serviço ao proprietário alguns dias por semana, mediante remuneração” Finalmente, trata-se daquele “que vive em fazenda ou sítio, prestando
serviços avulsos, sem ser propriamente um empregado”.
