Portuguese to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation / Electrical | | Portuguese term or phrase: quadro de colunas | Hello,
I am having difficulty with the abovementioned term, found in an Angolan Portuguese document on electricity supply systems in buildings. Is this the same as "quadro de distribuição" (distribution board)? I would appreciate any feedback on what an appropriate English equivalent would be.
The context is as follows:
CONSTITUIÇÃO DO QUADRO DE COLUNAS
* Caixa de Corte Geral (*)
* Caixa de Barramentos (*)
* Caixa de protecção de saídas (*)
I also found a description of "quadro de colunas" in a separate document, which I am listing here to provide further context:
Quadro de colunas (QC) – quadro alimentado directamente por um ramal ou por intermédio de um troço comum da instalação colectiva, destinado a alimentar as colunas montantes e as entradas de características especiais.

British English ideal, but any version is appreciated. Many thanks in advance! |

| Grading comment Thank you for your feedback! I am adding "distribution board" as a synonym to your suggestion of "switchboard". For this particular document, the client and I have decided to use a more descriptive equivalent, based on descriptions found in the document itself and elsewhere, as a "safe measure", but I am adding your entry to the open glossary because I think the PT and EN terms discussed here are still related. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
