Portuguese to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation / Electrical
Portuguese term or phrase: entrada
Hello,

This is found in an Angolan Portuguese document on electricity supply systems in buildings.

Context:
SECÇÕES DOS CONDUTORES
* Ramal
* Coluna > l0mm2
* Entrada > 6mm2

"Entry"seems far too literal here. I also found the term in a separate document, which may provide further context:

Entradas:

British English ideal, but any version is appreciated. Once again, many thanks for your help!

Asker: Thank you very much for your feedback. After some research following submission of this Kudoz entry, the client and I think that "incomer" is actually the term that "entrada" refers to in this particular document. For that reason, I am closing the answer without grading, but I would like to thank you for your suggestion of "input" because it helped point me in that particular direction, where previously I had been researching options like "entry", "entrance", etc., with no convincing results. I would indeed agree that in other instances, "input" would be appropriate, but here, we believe they are referring to the "incomer" on a distribution board.

Entry door

Explanation:
As portas de entrada e saída da instalação e de cada unidade de quarentena devem ser portas de sistema duplo.

Entry and exit doors to the facility and to each quarantine unit must be double door systems.

I understand the context itself refers to the location of the input, not the mains electrical input. So for it would entry door

Asker: Thank you for your feedback! I can see your point, but in this case the document is not referring to the doors, but rather an aspect of the electrical system within the installations ("troços das canalizações eléctricas").
