Portuguese to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Energy / Power Generation / terminology
Portuguese term or phrase: RUB
This expression appeared in an accident report for a wind turbine propeller housing, form the context it is pretty self explanatory as to what is is and does (Conical propeller housing?), is there a translation for RUB??

O acidente ocorreu no momento em que estava sendo erguido o conjunto de hélice da torre eólica. Segundo as informações obtidas na vistoria a operação de içamento estava na fase inicial, estando o conjunto de pás e “RUB” (dispositivo cônico onde são fixadas as pás da hélice) na horizontal e há aproximadamente 1,5m de altura do nível do solo.

agree  coolbrowne: Methinks your reckoning is right. Note also the misuse of the verb "haver": it must be "a (never 'há') aproximadamente 1,5m de altura..."

neutral  xxxmediamatrix: So, what was the Portuguese term for 'spinner'? In three letters, starting with 'R' and ending with 'B'?

-> I believe they wanted to say HUB, which is where the blades are attached but the conical part is the spinner

agree  Nick Taylor: looks like a spinner to me mate!
