Gostaria de saber a melhor tradução, do português para o inglês, do termo "proponente". Não há contexto, trata-se de um documento sobre financiamento a ser concedido a instituições científicas que apresentem a melhor proposta, sendo por isso, chamadas de "proponentes". Estou na dúvida se traduzo esse termo como "proponents", "proposers", ou, simplesmente "applicants" (postulantes de um financiamento). Qual a sua sugestão?
