Explanation:
The word "moedas" could have several meanings (one is "coins" but I don't think that applies here), and some of them can be gleaned from the document in the link below, of the Receita Federal.
In Art. 2º, V, it defines "trânsito para verificação física" as: "o transporte de moedas, cheques, cheques de viagem ou de ouro ativo financeiro ou instrumento cambial da unidade da RFB de entrada ou de saída até o local designado..."
So it is clear that "trânsito" is "transport".
I think that in the context of the Central Bank (BACEN), "moeda" is used to refer to Brazilian currency, and in the plural it would refer to Brazilian and other currencies, as BACEN would also deal with these and have to transport them to and from the points of exchange to a central deposit.
