Ajudava saber mais sobre o contexto da carta, mas se a seguir a pessoa for enumerar as tais razões (pelas quais não irá receber nada do pai natal), esta parece-me a expressão mais adequada.

  -> Paul, I know that usually "olhar" is "look" and "ver" is "see"; however, I felt that idiomatically it sounded better to use "look" in thei context - Mike :)
