Mike, Ralph is correct about slip. Maybe it's in caps. in your text to signal that it's a borrowed 'foreign' word. I really don't think it's an acronym. Try Googling reinsurance slip to see just how common this is.
Hi Michael - is the term capitalised (i.e. an acronym)? If so, and if your text is referring to information systems, then it could stand for Serial Line Internet Protocol
