Portuguese term or phrase:F. (abbreviation)
Just the letter "F" appearing before the names of individials (but not companies) who appear in the contract. Probably something really obvious, but I've never seen it before ....

Although the usual assumption would be that F stands for "signature", in this case I think António's second suggestion ("Fulano de tal") must be the right one. However, I couldn't find any proof in any dictionary, list of accepted abbreviations etc. Maybe it's something specific to Angolan legal douments ....
There isn't much of a translation solution for it either, except the letter "x" or the phrase "name to ne supplied".

Precisely because this is a draft documents there could be mistake in the marking as M instead of F. I am abosuletely confident that it refers to the sex.
The documents are all drafts - i.e. they have not yet been signed and blank spaces have been left for names, dates, addresses etc. to be filled in.
Afraid at least one of the parties is male, as their name does appear later on in the document - I did think of "feminino" at firs but rejected it for this reason.
Thanks for such prompt help at this time of day, but I'm still confused because the "F" does not appear anywhere near the place where an actual signature would normally be. It's always at the beginning of the document e.g.
"perante mim .... F ... ajudante no Cartório, compareceram como outorgantes
- F .... estado civil ... natural de .... residente em... e F ... estado civil ..., natural de ..." etc
Is there any chance it could mean "the undersigned"?

The updates to the menu were made to make the site easy and more intuitive for visitors. Obviously, like any change, this may take a few days to get used to.
The dropdown menus have been divided into two-dimensional panels with similar items grouped together under headings. This eliminates scrolling for those with smaller screens, and also improves readability.
Mouseover your name at the top of the screen. Here you will find information about your account, your email settings, and more. The "My ProZ.com" menu was moved up here to simplify the main navigation, and to keep all of this type of information together.
