Explanation:
My understanding is that something is archived when it is no longer in use, but needs to be kept either for legal reasons or possible future use. If it’s filed, on the other hand, it’s at hand and ready to be used on a day-to-day basis. In this situation, the process is closed, so I would use ‘archiving’.

disagree  MARK ROBERTSON: Arquivamento is a technical term in PT. Shelving is a colloquial word in EN, which means to put aside or postpone, i.e. suspend. Arquivar does not mean to suspend.

  -> Thanks, Mark. But I beg to disagree. In legalese, the technical word to "arquivar um processo" is to shelve the case, as confirmed by the Marcílio Moreira de Castro and Maria Chaves de Melo legal dictionaries.
