Objectives
The study of criminal concerns itself with the rules that are applied in a courtroom to establish criminal liability. It is in this way different to civil law, such as the law of contract crime or property - whereas the aim of civil law is compensation, that of criminal law is punishment. The two systems have their own court structures, procedures and systems of enforcement.
