Portuguese term or phrase: cartório do registro
This appears on a stamp on a birth certificate. I know that both words can mean "registry" so it seems redundant. I also know that cartório can be a notary public's office. Any suggestions for the best way to say this in English would be appreciated.
English translation:Registry Office
perhaps it's redundant, but every language has itw own peculiaries
