Tem a ver com o movimento dos constituintes sintáticos para a periferia esquerda da sentença. Por exemplo quando se faz uma pergunta no inglês tem que ter movimento obrigatório do pronome interrogativo para o início da sentença; Ex. Who did John see? O "who" é o objeto do verbo "see" mas ele tem que deslocar obrigatoriamente para a esquerda da sentença, ou seja o início da sentença.
