Portuguese term or phrase: Sertada
'Levar as vacas para a sertada'. If mymemory does not fail me, I think it is a field, usually with a high gradient and surrounded by a fence, but I could be wrong.

In other words, I think it is a 'grazing field', but I would like to check.

Many thanks,

grazing field
Explanation:
You are absolutely correct regarding the translation: GRAZING FIELD (pasture land, land which cattle or sheep may graze on), but I could not find the word SERTADA anywhere. From your context it seems that the word should be SERTÃO, see the entry in INFOPEDIA - PORTO EDITORA:
sertão

substantivo masculino

1. região interior, afastada da costa e distante de povoações;

2. floresta longe da costa;

3. Brasil região pouco povoada do interior do Brasil, onde a actividade predominante é a criação de gado;

4. figurado província; aldeia;

(Do lat. sertánu-, «do bosque», de sertu-, «bosque»)
