This term is mostly used in cattle breeeding. There are two different animal blood categories — Puro de Origem (PO) and Puro por Cruza (PC), which mean full-blood and commercial purebred respectively. (PC) is achieved by using full-blood bulls on native cows and their resulting offspring through several generations when one reaches what is called the "puro por cruza" stage, i.e., about five or more top-crosses with purebred sires;
