Part of a technical manual on plate glass characteristics relative to its absorption of solar energy.
Can anyone tell me what the RAT stands for - Ill probably kick myself!

A equação de RAT calcula o destino de 100% da energia solar, que é igual à soma da reflexão, da absorção e da transmissão solar. Por exemplo, de uma única lâmina de vidro incolor com 3 mm de espessura, 83% da energia solar é transmitida, 8% é refletida e 9% é absorvida pelo vidro. Desse percentual de energia solar absorvida, uma parte é emitida de volta para o exterior e a outra parte, para o interior do edifício (Figura 2).

The RAT equation accounts for 100 percent of solar energy, which is equal to the sum of solar reflectance, absorption and transmittance. For example, with a single pane of 1/8" (3 mm) clear glass, 83 percent of solar energy is transmitted, 8 percent is reflected and 9 percent is absorbed by the glass. Of the solar energy absorbed, portions are emitted back towards the exterior and towards the building interior (see Figure 2).
