For what it's worth, I'd like to offer the following rendering of the entire clause: "...It can apparently be concluded that the damage caused through negligence or omissions on the part of NHS TRUST, its employees or agents, etc. was the reason for non-payment of compensation to the patient." Or, if you want to maintain the structure of the original text, "...It can apparently be concluded that the non-payment of compensation to the patient was due to the damage caused through negligence or omissions by NHS TRUST, its employees or agents, etc." (The original text doesn't make a whole lot of sense, in that you'd expect that negligence or omissions WOULD lead to the payment of damages, but you can't argue with the author.) -- Hope this helps, even belatedly. -- HC |
