BIS Explanation: BIS = bispectral index e.g.: "Depth of anaesthesia was monitored by the bispectral index (BIS), a processed EEG variable, which is provenly correlated with hypnotic drug effect. All patients recieved a bolus and continuous infusion of sufentanil. Induction of anaesthesia was performed with propofol. Anaesthesia was maintained with a continuous infusion of sufentanil and sevoflurane. The last one was increased or decreased to maintain the BIS between 40 and 60." HTH, Serge L.
