I.C. = Indocyanine green Explanation: Indocyanine green (IC Green® by Akorn) http://hsc.virginia.edu/pharmacy-services/Newsletters/P&T Fo... Indocyanine green is a diagnostic dye indicated for determining cardiac output, hepatic function and liver blood flow, and for ophthalmic angiography. Indocyanine green may also be used to enhance visualization of mature (white) cataracts for safe capsulorrhexis and phacoemulsification. Indocyanine green is generally well tolerated. However, rare reports of anaphylactic and hypersensitivity reactions have occurred in patients receiving indocyanine green. For use in cataract surgery, indocyanine green powder is dissolved in 0.5 ml of aqueous solvent and then mixed with 4.5 ml acteriostatic saline irrigation solution. Once reconstituted, this product is stable for 10 hours. For choroidal angiography, 25-50 mg is injected into the antecubital vein. The cost of indocyanine green is $52 per 25 mg vial. ...
