Em relação às fibras colágenas do tipo I os grupos tratados com o laser 30J/cm2 e 4J/cm2 apresentaram diferenças significativas do controle e do Dersani. Este é um ponto importante, pois indica que a maturidade da cicatriz foi alcançada precocemente nos grupos que foram tratados com estas duas modalidades de laser, indicando a eficiência da radiação laser na substituição de fibras colágenas do tipo III por fibras colágenas do tipo I, provavelmente no grupo tratado com o laser 4J/cm2, mesmo tendo menor quantidade de fibras colágenas tipo III a substituição ocorreu de forma mais rápida e eficiente o que fez com que este grupo tivesse uma quantidade significativamente maior de fibras do tipo I, ao final do experimento quando comparado aos outros grupos. Segundo (26), as fibras colágenas tipo I são mais espessas, dando a cicatriz maior força e resistência às trações. Para (7) a resistência do tecido cicatricial decorre do aumento e da remodelação do colágeno especialmente pelo aumento de colágeno tipo I e das ligações transversais entre as suas moléculas.
