Hi Mary, lateral sulcus = Sylvian fissure = lateral fissure. "Lateral sulcus" is preferred because it is the "official" name in the Terminologia Anatomica and because eponyms are falling out of use in English. It's "lateral sulci" because there is one in each hemisphere.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks again Felipe! "Fissuras Sylvianas" is also known as "Sylvian fissure or lateral fissure" correct? So I can use either one of these terms right? Oh, one last thing...Is it "lateral sulci" or lateral sulcus? I just want to make sure I got this right. Thanks again Felipe! :)

agree  Muriel Vasconcellos: Again, 'intact' might work as well. I also posted a note on eponymous medical terms.
