Explanation:
Frequently used designation in both Human and Veterinary Medicine. There are several pathological entities which are somewhat confusing and confused even amongst professionals. You will find pyometra, pyometritis and even metritis (a general term for inflammation of the uterus) being used to describe the same condition.

Termo frequentemente utilizado tanto em Medicina Humana como em Medicina Veterinária. Existem diversas patologias que acabam por ser confundidas quer por profissionais quer na literatura, e é frequente ver piometrite, piómetra ou mesmo metrite (um termo generalista para inflamação do útero) a serem utilizadas para descreverem a mesma condição clínica.
