Erro comumente observado na prática diária é quando
o adjetivo derivado de tórax é utilizado. Torácico se
escreve com “c” e não com “x” pois, segundo o mesmo
professor, existe a regra de que toda palavra derivada do
grego por sufixação deve preferencialmente utilizar a
forma do genitivo (thórakos). Mesmo em latim o adjetivo
torácico (thoracicus) já existia e, portanto, é grave erro
grafar “toráxico” como não raro observamos por aí. Se
não fosse desta forma, e não seguíssemos as mesmas
regras válidas para tórax, estaríamos grafando
“toraxocentese”, “toraxoplastia”, “toraxtomia”, e não os
termos corretos toracocentese, toracoplastia e
toracotomia.
