I agree with Amy. In the language spoken by my family members, "biscoito" is both cookie and cracker. And BTW, 'biscuit' in the US is usually reserved for a chunkier item, neither sweet nor salty, hard and irregular on the outside with dough inside; you break it open and slather the inside with butter or gravy. It's eaten with a meal, not by itself, because it's pretty tasteless. There's also the 'sea biscuit', which is a large unsalted cracker, and then imported 'biscuits' that come in tins and are more like cookies, but again with a rather bland taste. |
