jumpsuit / overalls

Explanation:

Coveralls

Explanation:
As an example:

Overalls are used frequently for hunting and usually very heavily insulated. They are long waterproof leggings.
Coveralls are made of a lighter material [usually cotton], basically to protect from getting dirty, although there are some insulated coveralls.
The distinction is more in the use. Are you wearing them to keep warm or from getting dirty?
In the US, the brand Dickies is the prevalent choice for auto mechanics.
Jumpsuit is the word most used in the UK for coveralls. In the US, Jumpsuit mostly refers to the suit worn by air force pilots and paratroopers, for example.
But please note that Jumpsuits is also worn by mechanics.

Hope I helped in confusing the matter further.
