bottle caps
Explanation:
Hi Matilda,

this is my suggestion:

Today I also wrote to Tiago telling him about your new girlfriend and the bottle caps.

if it's refering to a person would be: dumpy person but doesn't make much sense in this sentence... anyway.

I now remember a piece of text nearer the beginning of the story and in this context the tampinhas in question are definetly bottle caps!! The characters had a party and they used the bottle caps of whisky bottles to take shots!
Obrigado a todas.

disagree  Steve Smith: It is definitely NOT small caps which is a typing term and meaningless in this context.

disagree  Vivian: bottle caps is tampinha de garrafa, that is not on text here

agree  Steve Smith: We need more context, but bottle caps (yes, that's American) seems best here.

bottle tops/shorties

Explanation:

disagree  Steve Smith: Not to belabor this but in (Amer.)English tampa can't be "cap" without the "bottle". Small caps = hats or a font choice.

bottle caps

Explanation:
No texto mencionado, para reproduzir o espírito de quem tinha tampinhas, deveria constar algo como : ... and your collection of bottle caps.
