deforestation Explanation: tanto para desmatação como para desarborização, a tradução é deforestation.Os outros dois termos não encontrei em nenhum dos dicionários on-line nem nos meus pessoais. Aqui no Brasil usamos desmatamento com maior freqüência, mas desmatação e desarborização também são usados. Na minha interpretação, a diferença entre desmatação e desarborização, está em que o primeiro supõe a eliminação de toda planta que esteja um pouco acima do solo e a segunda supõe a eliminação das árvores somente. Espero ter ajudado. |

DEFORESTATION = é a extinção, voluntária ou accidental de GRANDES "selvas, matas" - a Floresta Amazônica, a Mata Atlântica, as Florestas Tropicais, - GRANDES ÁREAS DE vegetação. DESARBORISATION (UK) e DESARBORIZATION (USA) - é o corte de algumas poucas árvores de uma área bem menor, por ex. um jardim, um parque. Ex. "the garden was desarborised to give way to flowers". Ou "desarborizaram" o parque para fazer um lago, etc. Eu faria essa diferenciação. DEFORESTATION - a very much used ecological term, DESARBORISATION - a pedantic usage meaning (a few) "tree-cutting". But which method is the most damaging? When you clear cut, you make big changes to the forest once every 80 to 100 years. But with some other methods like "selective cutting," you make small changes more often -- say every 10 to 20 years. A scientist at Virginia Tech found that clear cutting was actually easier on salamander populations than other methods. But other, more mobile species adapt to selective cutting better than clear cutting. The jury is still out on which method is best for biodiversity.
