I found this reference at John 3:19 that might be what you are looking for. It says: "....but men have loved the darkness rather than the light, for their words were wicked."

There is also verse 20 that says: "For he that practices vile things hates the light and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be reproved." This is probably closer to what you need.
