God willing
Explanation:
"God willing, I'll return" [article title]
National Catholic Reporter, Feb 24, 2006 by Evi Quinn

* Isabel Gibson (NCR, Jan. 27) praises Gen. MacArthur's "I shall return" statement, but her criticism of adding on the often-used phrase "if all goes well" makes me wonder why Ms. Gibson equates this latter expression with "playing it safe, committing to to nothing"? Hispanics say, "si Dios quiere," and people in the Jewish tradition say, "im yirtzeh Hashem."

agree  André Barros: It can be also "If it is God's will"

-> True, but I think from the (admittedly brief) context, I would opt for the more colloquial "God willing."

agree  Alyson Steele Weickert, Ph.D.: I think there are always choices, "so help me God " could be another alternative if there were more context. With no surrounding text I´d go for this nearest equivalent.

agree  Amy Duncan: Bingo, but I disagree with Alyson..."so help me God" is not it, in this or any context.
2 hrs

agree  Rosemberg Souza: "God willing" is more colloquial. "If it is God's will" would be "Se for a vontade de Deus"
