Portuguese term or phrase: cúpula

How would you translate the word “cúpula”?

The term appears in a religious book I am translating, based on the Bible, and it refers to a group of leaders or officials, for example in the expression “cúpula do templo”.

I found “cupola”, an architectural term, and “copula”, an anatomical one - neither seems related to the administrative sense intended here.

Is there a word to refer to such a group/body, or could anybody suggest a suitable translation of it?

Governing Body

The most wonderful peculiarity about the temple is the structure of its governing body. Only the secretary & committee members are elected while the permanent president is Sree Dharma Sastha himself! This is on the basis of the meeting which was conducted by Ayyappa at Pullukulangara, sitting on a stool & addressing the villagers and Kalari leaders, where the temple now situates. The administration of the temple goes to the whole Nair families residing in the nine Karas (part of the village). The secretary of Pullukulangara Devaswam is Dr. Kottinattu Sasikumar since December 21, 1988.
