artistic works Explanation: connotations: works of art: calls to mind paintings, sculptures, etc art work: calls to mind, 'finishing' as in the artistic sense. e.g. the art work in this 16th century wooden door is wonderful' I suggest 'artistic works' as being neither of the aboev and thus not bringing other, and different, notions to mind. Your company may be involved in restoring/reinforcing old buildings, bridges etc that may be classified as 'historical' or 'artistic'. See: Stolow, Nathan. "The Preservation of Historic Houses and Sites: The Interface of Architectural Restoration and Collection/Display Conservation Principles." Preventive Conservation: Practice, Theory, and Research. Preprints of the Contributions to the Ottawa Congress. London: The International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC), 1994, pp. 116-122. public works/works of art Explanation: it actually is referring to public works of art. many engineering projects include public works of art such as large scale engineered sculpture and such. I believe the context is referring to an engineering firm that may specialize in large scale sculpture in large construction projects as an embellishment of the architecture. reinforcing structures= possibly "retrofitting" against earthquakes (in California) self |
