Portuguese to English translations [PRO] Telecom(munications) / telephone
Portuguese term or phrase:dígito
Estou transcrevendo um audio para um software de reconhecimento de voz. A frase é a seguinte:
ligar para zero quatro um dois sete sete dois sete quatro digito oito meia cinco sete
Ok, então a pessoa deu esse comando para o aparelho telefonico reconhecer e efetuar no caso a ligação. Minha pergunta é o que é esse dígito no meio dos números????É um botão no aparelho?? É um ramal?? O que que vocÊ aperta no telefone que corresponde ao dígito??
The "digit" here is the "suffix #" if you will that comes after the main number and when talking about a telephone number, it's usually separated by a DASH, but if you're typing this for a voice recognition work, then you would have to omit this dash, since when dialing the phone number you don't actually dial the dash, got it ?
Aqui está Thais.
Repare que, mesmo em inglês, está relacionado com números ("number-sign"), correspondendo ao uso num número de telefone ou num telefonema.
Erro: desculpe Thais, faltou-me o . De acordo com as instruções do Truth Guidelines deve colocar " #number-sign ".
Well, I might be wrong, but I didn't know where to post this question, so I posted it on Kudoz as a translation question. Also, because if I need to place a marker or a tag, those are in English, so in the end, I also need to know it in English.
Than Thais, [I'm sorry for this "foolish" question], why do you need to know that in english if you are transcribing it, not translating it to english?
Yes, Jorge I am transcribing it according to the Truth Guidelines... unfortunately they didn't give this option here on Proz.com so I had to put it as translation, since the tags in Truth are in English anyway
I have a question Thais: are you transcribing it to brazilian portuguese or are you translating it from portuguese to english? My question might be relevant to you if you are transacribing according to the Truth Guidelines manual.

Hope this helps.
