Multumesc tuturor. Prefer prepozitia "on" sau "for" Romanian language, deoarece "in" poate da de inteles ca romana ar fi limba in care se sustine examenul la alta materie.

Stimate Dan Dascalescu,

A da/sustine un examen se spune in engleza “to take an examination”, “to do an examination” sau, pentru varianta britanica a englezei, “to sit an examination”.

Respectivul “examination” poate fi in buna limba englezeasca:

- an examination in (cand e vorba de obiect de studiu) - examination in physics, examination in chemistry, examination in mathematics etc.
- an examination on (cand e vorba de un anume subiect) examination on irregular verbs, examination on prepositions, etc.

“When Mr. L. , the Minister of Education , was asked about the school-leaving age again at a press conference yesterday, he said that there were still a large number of problems to be considered. One reprorter from DM asked what the Government was going to do about childern who wanted to go out and earn money at the age of 16. (…) so the Government was seriously considering raising the school-leaving age sometime in the future…”
Invatamantul obligatoriu nu est liceul nici in Romania, nici in Marea Britanie si nici in Statele Unite, cel putin deocamdata.
Ma abtin de la comentarii. A bon entendeur salut !

Explanation:
1.to obtain one's school-leaving exam (for Romanian language and literature)
sau
2.A levels or Highers (for Romanian language and literature) ˇÖ to graduate from high school (US)

n-a incaput comentariul la raducu
school leaving e ok maturity nu am auzit sa fie utilizat iar in State si Canada ii zice "Highers"
Maturity pare sa fie preluat dupa Matura (Abitur) in germ. dar si acest termen are corespondent in engl. si nu vad de ce nu s-ar folosi
