I've done a lot of research on this....
It is about two extruded alluminum profiles,
Cap profile, base profile and an EPDM gasket.
“Glazing Systems with Aluminum Profiles Polygal’s 6-16mm glazing systems use Polycarbonate sheets, aluminum profiles, and specially fitted screws and EPDM gaskets for easy to install, well-sealed roofing surfaces.”

I looked into the extruded aluminum manufacturing process (thinking it might be related to the way it is extruded -under pressure), but it is not related.
Then I looked at the way the EPDM gasket is assembled between the top profile and bottom profile, and the PRESSURE which the top profile puts on the EPDM gasket when assembled with the bottom profile.

Uneori denumirea difera de la un domeniu la altul si in raport cu tipul constructiv dar, general vorbind, "snap latch" se refera la o o gama diversa de elemente de fixare prin presiune (cu arc sau fara, cu revenire sau fara, tip clema elastica, etc).
Mai multe probleme am avut cu varianta in limba romana dar definitia din DEX, cea cu piciorusul masinii de cusut, m-a ajutat deoarece mecanismul de coborare si blocare al acestuia este similar cu ceea ce se foloseste la panouri de acces, cutii electrice, etc., din domeniul cu care sunt eu familiarizata, contructii - instalaltii.
