Romanian term or phrase: comuna / sat
As far as I know, these both mean village. However, I got an address: comuna Floresti-Stoenesti, satul Stoenesti.
My question is how would you distinguish between the two?

commune / village
Explanation:
In the Romanian administrative system a commune can consist of several villages.

I agree that the primary meaning of \"commune\" in the English language (a small group of persons living together, sharing possessions, work, income, etc., and often pursuing unconventional lifestyles) may create some confusion. However, once you explain that this is similar to the smallest administrative division in France, Italy, Switzerland, etc., governed by a mayor and communal council, the term should no longer be confusing.

Thanks Corin. Your confirmation that a comuna may include several vilages was just what I was looking for.

agree  Red Cat Studios: ok for village, but cummune (although it is the translation for "comuna") hasn't at all the same meaning. It may even allow confussion between the two. Your explanation is perfect.
