Din câte înțeleg (fără sa am pretenția ca sunt edificat), trunchierea (truncation) și rotunjirea nu sunt interschimbabile. Trunchierea (eliminarea decimalelor sub un anumit ordin) presupune uneori rotunjirea, dar nu întotdeauna. Deci, rotunjirea poate fi o etapa a trunchierii, însă nu este același lucru.
