вопрос профессионалам был задан по ошибке, это конечно же простой вопрос. а смысл его в том, как сказать правильно: one hundred and one books или one hundred books and a book?

Но у нас нет и подлинной привязанности этих трех существ ни друг к другу, ни к чему-либо еще, поскольку чувства кошки в серьезный расчет не берутся, а господину и госпоже придется расстаться, и все это в конце концов несущественно и преходяще, все это протокольно формулируется и не остается следа: “берется сто книг, прочитывается, переписывается, и получается – сто одна книга” – рецепт творчества Зернова, нелепо растворившего, растерявшего как свою самость, так и свою обыкновенность. Ни капли сложности не придающего никаким жизненным отношениям, по необходимости следующего “партийной и производственной линии”, – а что другое? Отражение в зрачках кошки? В зеркале?

With numerals один, тридцать один, сто двадцать один and so on, nouns are used in the Nominative case in the Singular number.

С этим выражением может существовать быть ровно одна засада:
а именно, в университетах США базовые курсы по предметам обозначаются кодом 101, например, Calculus 101 - это "основы математического анализа".
Это часто используется и в бытовой речи. Поэтому фраза "101 textbooks" может означать (в соответствующем контексте) "книги по основам предметов"/"учебники для начинающих"/"элементарные введения".

Если вы переводите что-то, что могло быть переведено ранее с английского, и если "сто одна книга" плохо лезет в контекст, это следует иметь ввиду.
